Nagarjuna Sagar dam, located from the capital city of Hyderabad. The most popular landmark of the town is world's tallest masonry dam Nagarjunasagar dam built over Krishna River.
It is one of civil engineering marvel. It has so many picturesque locations for nature lovers. Its reservoir has made largest man-made lake. In the middle of this lake, island called as Nagarjua Konda, which is largest and most important Buddhist centre in South India, which was the capital of the Ikshvaku dynasty in the 1st and 2nd centuries, the successors of the Satavahanas in the Eastern Deccan. The main attraction here is a museum which contains excavated remains of Buddhist civilization in the area.
The Town of Nagarjunasagar or Vijayapuri as it was earlier known is today blessed by the Mother Nature in full glory, its present name from a Buddhist saint and scholar Acharya Nagarjuna.
To visit Nagarjuna Sagar in season from September to January and the Peak Season is from September to December. It usually takes one full day to visit all places in Nagarjuna Sagar.
